Curriculum for Associate in Christian Education

Associate of Arts and Sciences in Christian Education: Teaching like King Jesus

This curriculum is designed to prepare students for effective Christian education that reflects the life and teachings of Jesus. It aims to develop educators who teach like Jesus, set an example like Jesus, are wise like Jesus, are led and filled by the Holy Spirit like Jesus, are empowered like Jesus, and impact others like Jesus. The end goal is to transform all students into the full image of Jesus Christ. This program meets or exceeds the standards of accredited schools in America.

General Education Requirements (30 credit hours):

1. English Composition (6 credit hours):
   • ENG 101: English Composition I (3 credit hours)
   • ENG 102: English Composition II (3 credit hours)
2. Mathematics (3 credit hours):
   • MAT 101: College Algebra or MAT 102: Introduction to Statistics (3 credit hours)
3. Natural Sciences (3-4 credit hours):
   • BIO 101: General Biology or ENV 101: Environmental Science (3-4 credit hours)
4. Social Sciences (6 credit hours):
   • PSY 101: Introduction to Psychology (3 credit hours)
   • SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology (3 credit hours)
5. Humanities (6 credit hours):
   • HIS 101: World History I (3 credit hours)
   • PHI 101: Introduction to Philosophy (3 credit hours)
6. Communication (3 credit hours):
   • COM 101: Public Speaking (3 credit hours)
7. Elective (3 credit hours):
   • Any general education course of student’s choice (3 credit hours)

Core Biblical Studies Requirements (24 credit hours):

1. Foundations of Biblical Studies (6 credit hours):
   • BIB 101: Survey of the Old Testament (3 credit hours)
   • BIB 102: Survey of the New Testament (3 credit hours)
2. Life and Teachings of Jesus (6 credit hours):
   • BIB 201: The Life and Ministry of Jesus (3 credit hours)
   • BIB 202: Parables and Teachings of Jesus (3 credit hours)
3. Christian Education and Teaching (9 credit hours):
   • EDU 301: Introduction to Christian Education (3 credit hours)
   • EDU 302: Teaching Methods of Jesus (3 credit hours)
   • EDU 303: Curriculum Development for Christian Educators (3 credit hours)
4. The Holy Spirit and Empowerment (3 credit hours):
   • BIB 301: The Holy Spirit in the New Testament (3 credit hours)

Practical Education Electives (6 credit hours):

Students can choose from the following electives to gain practical education skills:

1. Educational Psychology (3 credit hours):
   • EDU 304: Educational Psychology for Christian Educators (3 credit hours)
2. Child and Adolescent Development (3 credit hours):
   • PSY 302: Child and Adolescent Development (3 credit hours)
3. Worship and Music Education (3 credit hours):
   • WOR 301: Foundations of Worship Ministry (3 credit hours)
4. Youth and Children’s Ministry (3 credit hours):
   • MIN 305: Introduction to Youth and Children’s Ministry (3 credit hours)

Capstone Project (3 credit hours):

1. Capstone in Christian Education (3 credit hours):
   • EDU 401: Integrative Capstone Project (3 credit hours)
   • This course requires students to integrate their learning into a comprehensive project focused on teaching like Jesus, demonstrating practical application and educational skills.

Total Credit Hours: 63-64

This curriculum ensures a strong foundation in general education while focusing deeply on Christian education, reflecting the life and teachings of Jesus. It prepares students to teach, set an example, be wise, be led and filled by the Holy Spirit, be empowered, and impact others like Jesus in order to teach the TRUTH (THE WORD) to all nations of the earth, ultimately transforming all students into the full image of Jesus Christ.
